The Singing Woodstove was released by Evelyn Records in 2003 as part of a subscription series featuring field recordings and unusual natural sounds.

This piece is based entirely on a tape which was sent to John Cavanagh by Roger and Marvin Lalime, two doctors from the U.S. who specialise in the investigation of unusual phenomena and the world of pataphysics.

There is another track using this sound, with additional instruments, which appears on the Phosphene album Projection as "This Is Not A Woodstove", but you can listen to an extract from the pure sound here... it is, as the title suggests, a recording of a woodstove which, when installed, made exquisite sounds as the wind blew across its chimney!
