John Cavanagh with a few of his radio guests. More of these photos will appear when John finds them!

The late Rufus Thomas - the first artist on Stax Records

Mike Heron, who has appeared on John's shows several times, notably during re-unions with Incredible String Band-mates Robin Williamson and Clive Palmer.

The flexible format of John's shows allowed him to give space to some unusual material. The McKinley sisters made several singles in the '60's produced by John Carter and Ken Lewis and their backing musicians included one Jimmy Page in his pre - Led Zeppelin days. Jeanette and Sheila recalled Jimmy at that time as "a wee thin laddie"! Here they are seen with John and BBC producer Stewart Cruickshank.

Alex Chilton was a key influence on bands like Teenage Fanclub and - after sorting out various problems with his work permit - Alex joined the Fanclub for a much publicised session on the Radio Five show Earshot.

Joan Baez is noted by some interviewers as a difficult guest. Oddly enough, her two session appearances on John's shows were memorable for completely the opposite reason.
